Firstly and most importantly, in these challenging times, we are all navigating through uncertainty for ourselves, our loved ones and our community. The whole team at LBW hope that you, your friends and families are staying healthy, well and safe.

In response to the variety of business restrictions that are currently having an impact upon the Liverpool’s hospitality and leisure businesses, Liverpool City Council, in conjunction with neighbouring local authorities and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority are launching the Liverpool City Region Hospitality and Leisure Support Grant.

The fund will offer grants focused on helping businesses to retain jobs and meet operational costs during these difficult periods of trading and is designed to be complementary to additional measures provided by the Government such as the Jobs Support Scheme and the Local Restrictions Support Grant.

Who can apply?

These grants are for businesses in the LEISURE AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY whose activities have been significantly affected by Covid-19 restrictions.  The grant will support businesses who are able to continue trading through these difficult times, or who have been forced to close as part of the government’s Tier 3 Lockdown.

Businesses that are eligible to apply:

  • amusements and visitor attractions (family entertainment centres)
  • art gallery or museum (privately owned)
  • bars
  • bowling alley
  • café with indoor or outdoor seating
  • bookmakers
  • camping and caravan sites
  • gyms, yoga or dance centres
  • hotel
  • ice rink
  • leisure centres
  • outdoor pursuits centre
  • play centre or soft play centre
  • private golf courses and driving ranges
  • public house (serving substantive meals)
  • registered bed and breakfast accommodation (not AirBnB accommodation)
  • restaurant
  • sports club (for example, football, rugby)
  • theatre, cinema or event spaces
  • trampoline centre
  • urban farm

PAYMENT OF THE HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE GRANT

Grants will be awarded based on the number of Full Time Equivalent (FTE) people that you employ as well as the rateable value of the premises you occupy.

Grants will be paid on a phased basis and future payments will be subject to the satisfactory receipt of relevant information that the business is still trading, employing the relevant number of staff and is able to receive the grant as per State Aid rules.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications for this Liverpool City Region fund will be managed via a centralised portal.

You can apply from 10AM ON FRIDAY 16 OCTOBER 2020, and WILL CLOSE AT 5PM ON FRIDAY 30 OCTOBER 2020.  The links for the online application form will be published on the relevant local authority website.

HOW MUCH WILL I GET?

If your application is successful, the amount you get depends on the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) staff in your organisation, whether your business is continuing to trade and its rateable value, or level of rent payments associated with your property.

The aim is that the first funding will reach applicants within 10 days of applications being approved, with subsequent payments phased over the period of the grant.

Eligible businesses may receive (subject to the availability of funds):

  • £800 per Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) job sustained by the business.
  • The first payment will be 50% of the grant, followed by two monthly grants of 25%.
  • Grant instalments will be subject to evidence of each FTE employed and State Aid compliance.

An eligible business may also receive (subject to the availability of funds) a one-off payment if the business has a property with a rent/rateable value (RV) as follows (whichever is lower):

  • £1,300 if RV up to £15,000
  • £2,000 if RV is £15,001 to £51,000
  • £3,000 if RV over £51,000
